Happy New Year 2021!

As you start a new year fresh with re(new)ed enthusiasm and hope, you are embarking on a new adventure and authoring a new chapter in your life. Before rushing headlong into your life, it is valuable and useful to reflect on 2020 to inform who you are be(coming) and what you want to experience and achieve in 2021.

Reflection is taking time for introspection and giving serious thought and consideration.  To assist you with this endeavour, here are two useful resources below.  Before you start, I recommend you get yourself into the reflective energy flow and you can do that by going for a walk without a destination or meditating.

Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.” ~ Meg Wheatley

I recommend setting a theme  for 2021 vs new year’s resolutions, as it can help you focus on who you be and what you really want to do, achieve and experience.

With a theme, it’s not about setting a goal and trying to hit milestones (and feeling disappointed when you fail and have to start again). Instead, it’s about working on adding more to your life, based on your theme. In other words, what do you need to say YES to and what do you need to say NO to.

Setting a theme gives you some leeway to set mini-goals along the way with your life, so you don’t have to abandon goals altogether. I set goals for myself. However, they are more about lifestyle changes than they are about hitting certain benchmarks.

So how do you set a theme for yourself?  This article shares a 5 step process on how to develop a theme for yourself.

When you are setting goals, this article provides a step by step process to help you through the goal setting process. This takes time, so be patient, set aside 4 x 30 min sessions with yourself.

As you reflect, I invite you to ask yourself, “what do you need to get out of your way?” and ” what do you need to take you out of your comfort zone?” (i.e. “what would take you to your edge? what would expand your learning zone?”) for you to grow more and lean into fully fulfilling your life’s purpose and to be fully alive in your life.

If you would like to share your theme for 2021 or what you learned through the process, please drop it in the comments below or share with me via https://transformingleaders.ca/contact
